Novgorod-Sivershchyna is a northern outpost of Ukraine, bordering the border of the aggressor country (distance to the border is 40 km). The night of May 12, 2022 became tragic for two basic educational institutions of the city of Novgorod-Siversk - Novgorod-Siversk comprehensive school of grades I-III No. 2 of the Novgorod-Siversk city council of Chernihiv region (Hereinafter - school No. 2) and Novgorod-Siversk gymnasium No. 1 named after B. Maistrenko. Direct missile strikes, fragments and blast waves caused significant damage to these facilities.
Without carrying out capital restoration works or new construction, the further implementation of the educational process in these buildings is impossible. In the Novgorod-Siversk comprehensive school of grades I-III No. 2, a direct hit completely destroyed the gymnasium, destroyed the roof of the transition, and the shock wave damaged the main building, furniture, and equipment. Restoration of the institution requires new construction. The mentioned institution has provided educational services since 1912, providing the needs of the northern part and territorially distant from the center of the city, the institution still remains strategically important for the educational network of Novgorod-Siverskyi.
Novgorod-Siversk Gymnasium No. 1 named after B. Maistrenko of the Novgorod-Siversk city council of the Chernihiv region was also seriously injured after this attack.
In Novgorod-Siversk gymnasium No. 1 named after B. Maistrenko in the main building and in the elementary school building, dozens of windows were damaged, in both buildings the roof was damaged by shrapnel.
497 students were left without a place to study. Parents, teachers, students and the entire population of the Novgorod-Siversk urban territorial community are very depressed by this event and need a solution to the problem of the educational network.
